Anxiety-free sedation dentistry is a helpful complement to the performance of dentistry on fearful or phobic patients.

Too many people neglect their teeth and other oral problems because they are afraid of injections, or had a traumatic experience, don’t like the drill, or get anxious sitting in the chair for extensive treatment.

For mild anxiety, nitrous oxide (laughing gas) is most likely the sedation of choice. IV sedation is indicated for those who are extremely fearful and would avoid dentistry without it. Often, patients don’t even remember having the treatment done. Once a patient has experienced sedation dentistry, they often become dedicated to maintaining their oral health because it’s so easy!
